Scene:

This is the official Auburn Alumni bar. It can be yours too, if you request it, but the association with Auburn should tell you a lot. After going to college, loving football, burgers and sports, you grow up get a job and find bars that allow you to keep the party going in a cleaner and more civilized setting.

Why Go:

It is a great place for good round of drinks. People that go here, go often and stay for a long time.

Vibe:

This is the Joshua Tree crowd that has gotten over the 80s obsession. It is a laid back place during the week and a crowded bar and dance spot on the weekends.

Bests:

A good Dance-Dance on the weekend and the burgers!

Date Spot: Yes

Ok, once you have been dating for a while, but I would aim above beer and burgers on a first date.

Hookup Potential: Yes

This place is known for its late night crowd.

Pop the Question: Yes

If that is your thing.

Crowd: Uptown, Suits, Executives

It is far less pretentious than a club, but still dressed up.

Guy/Girl Ratio: 60% Guys

Bathrooms: Clean

Best Nights: Friday, Saturday, Sunday

Crowd: Uptown

This is the reason why I don't travel to the UES unless I am visiting a friend. No offense.

Guy/Girl Ratio: 50% Guys

Bathrooms: Clean

Hookup Potential: No

Sorry. Save it for the next bar.

Why Go:

Not the food.

Date Spot: No

Unless she lives right next door or suggest it, this is definitely not a date spot!

Scene:

I's a pub but don't be surprised if the food is not what you'd expect.

Hookup Potential: Yes

This a great place to meet someone and then get date for later - not for a midweek quickie.

Crowd: Socialites, Uptown, Suits, Students, Executives, Tourists

Performers, concert goers, just about anyone that wears a suit and works in midtown.

Guy/Girl Ratio: 50% Guys

Bathrooms: Clean

Best Nights: Thursday, Saturday, Wednesday

This is a great spot to meet eligible men. On Thursdays in the fall, winter, and spring a group of about 15 to 20 guys fill the upstairs or downstairs after rehearsal. These men are career oriented, but sing in a choir for fun. Ladies, where else can you get serenaded by a man who can still afford to buy you a drink?

First Date Spot: Yes

Totally! The food and drinks are great; so you can do either.

Vibe:

This is a place for people that love the arts, theater, fashion, opera, ballet, or music in general.

Bests:

Oyster Bar and American comfort food galore. My favorite is the brussel sprouts and broccoli.

Date Spot: Yes

A great spot for food and drinks before or after a show at Lincoln Center.

Why Go:

If you want to meet people that read New York Magazine, the New Yorker, and have a taste for being cultured, this is your spot.

Very relaxed. Pleasantly dark. I do a lot of day drinking here in the colder months. It just feels good.

Why Go:

Reasonably priced booze in a warm atmosphere.

Crowd: Hipster, Downtown

30ish hipsters and their dogs.

Bathrooms: Could Be Worse

Best Nights: Tuesday, Thursday, Friday, Saturday, Monday, Wednesday, Sunday

@ Brooklyn Bowl on Tue Feb 7
Williamsburg - North Side

Scene:

You're going to feel like you're at the circus. With more booze. And it smells better.

Why Go:

There is so much to do! You can take in a great meal from the folks of Blue Ribbon, see a show, dance your butt off, or bowl!

Bests:

The sound system is fantastic here. I've seen many bands here and danced to the stylings of many a DJ. You really can't go wrong. Oh, and don't forget to try the boozey milkshakes!

Hookup Potential: Yes

definitely, but it really depends on the night. i'd swing more for the weekends.

Crowd: Hipster, Socialites, Uptown, Downtown, Suits, Students, Executives, Tourists

you've got a little bit of everything, and everyone, in this place!

Guy/Girl Ratio: 50% Guys

Bathrooms: Clean

I love the bathrooms here.
